Make a Memory at Gaynors Resorts
by Cheryl Lee - CrossCurrents Magazine

Don and Nancy Gaynor have a mission—and that is to
provide an amazing and unforgettable Montana
experience to their guests
at Gaynors Resorts, a short
10 minutes out of Whitefish. There is no way that you will
not have the time of your life in a place that offers year-
round fun for the whole family.  Choose a luxury cabin with
all the amenities—down comforters, lodgepole furniture
and a fully equipped kitchen—on the working ranch or an
equally appointed cabin in the privacy of the woods. Get
settled in, and then the fun begins.
Gaynor Resorts is a family operation with a few good
friends tossed into the mix.  Don and Nancy own the ranch.
The “next generation,” Sarah, Joel and Whitney, are all
involved. Uncle Doug, Bill Beck, and his son, Dusty, help
with the horses. They all work as a team to provide an
unbelievable experience for those lucky folks who decide
to spend a few days here.  Most guests hate to leave and
can’t wait to get back. Kids love the place, and families
often return year after year.
The Gaynors and the ranch crew celebrate each
season. If you come in the summer when it stays light late
into the evening, you will be having so much fun that you
might just forget to go to bed!  You can ride horseback, try
your hand at roping, or go on a wagon ride. The kids can
play with the baby colts or the dogs, play in the hay,
conjure up a battle or two in the fort or jump into the water
from the rope swing. Top off the night with a campfire
complete with s’mores and cowboy stories.
Come in the fall and enjoy the harvest moon and the
brilliant oranges and golds of the fall foliage. Watch the
wildlife and the birds migrating south for the winter. Guests
delight at the deer, eagles and other wildlife often spotted
near the ranch.
The winter brings a wonderland of snowy sleigh rides,
with Molly and Dolly providing the “horsepower,” Don’s
world famous steaks on the grill and holiday get-togethers.
Ski cross-country or drive over to Big Mountain or Blacktail
for some downhill skiing. People also love to try out the Jeff’
s Dog Sled Adventures.
In spring, the baby animals are born and there might be
a cattle drive to check out. Whichever season you choose,
Don and Nancy and the crew will see that it is a special
experience for you.
Nancy is a member of the Confederated Salish and
Kooterai Tribe and, occasionally, you can talk her into
sharing some of the rich history of the Indian people. The
“next generation,” Joel and Sarah Warneke manage the
Cabins in the Woods portion of the resort. They are all
about fun and love kayaking, biking, rock climbing,
whitewater rafting, and they can guide you to whichever
type of fun appeals to you.  There will be a campfire at
night so you can share your adventures of the day.  They
also hold Native American cooking classes and encourage
you to bring a favorite bottle of local wine for everyone to
sample. There is a tipi where “drum massages, facials and
a mini-spa experience will relax you.

Don and Nancy say that what they offer is fun—for
every member of the family
. Children will have a blast
just being kids and parents can catch up on some much-
needed relaxation. It’s a great place for a honeymoon—a
wedding – a company retreat or a family reunion!
Something is always going on that you will talk about
and remember for a long time.
The people will welcome
you and the animals will delight you with their antics.  It’s all
about making memories, and the warmth will glow for a
long time to come.

Hi Nancy,

Sorry it took me all week to get these to ya.  I
included many, especially ones including our
'lovely' supervisor!!  We loved your cabins,
hospitality and just everything.  Last night was
our ladies golf league night and all the ladies,
who cancelled on us, were asking about our trip.
Me and Erin wore our caps that you gave us and
got all the ladies excited about your place.
Hopefully next year, we get a bigger turnout,
although what we did have, was AWESOME TOO.
Thanks again, for everything.  You guys are the
greatest.
